Three Kids...11 Shots

Today, Brian and I put on our brave faces and took all three kids to the doctor...at the same time. Noah had his two month check up, Eli had his five year check up, and Ella Kate just needed a flu shot. The kids checked off as "healthy" but we didn't get out of there without some battle wounds :) Eli got 5 shots...4 boosters needed b4 starting school as well as his flu shot. Noah got 6 immunizations. 3 were combined into one shot which was a welcomed surprise, then he got 2 more as well as as the oral vaccine for Rotavirus. This we are very excited about. It is a pretty new vaccine but ever since administration began, our pediatrician's office has only had a couple of hospital admissions related to Rotavirus. Eli was admitted for this when he was two. The dehydration was so bad, he was turning blue and passing out which we found out was spasms or his body's way of keeping the volume near his vital organs-scary stuff!!! So needless to say, we are loving that this vaccine is available to Noah and has already proven to be so very effective!

The kids are all resting, but I hear Eli crying. He was doing really well, but I think the soreness has really set in despite keeping him pumped full of Motrin. I better go see about him. At least when it's time to start school next year he can be exited and not have to mess with the whole shot thing...it's behind us :)
