THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM...OR SO WE HOPE

Ella Kate saw her ENT today since she has had three ear infections this summer since her second set of tubes fell out. She just finished up 10 days of Omnicef and although the infection is gone, she is full of fluid. Therefore, we have been hearing ALOT of screaming. Poor thing can't hear worth a flip. She doesn't realize that she is screaming or that the music REALLY IS playing in her room when she goes to sleep at night. Her ENT decided that since we are going into the winter it would be best to replace the tubes. What type of tube, he is still debating on. He's not sure he wants to go with something that will have to be surgically removed but the traditional tubes aren't staying in long enough either, so we'll see. The plan is to get her in sometime next week to replace tubes. While she is "under" they will draw labs to check her immune system (IgG levels for those of you who are medically prone) and then get her in with an allergy specialist for a little testing on food and environmental allergies just to cover all our bases. So, we hope this third time's the charm after which we'll be done with tubes forever...we'll see. We did enjoy a wonderful summer of swimming and showers and baths with the freedom of not having to wear plugs!
